Layout

A rolling mill layout consists of a number of motors and stands connected with one another in a lot of various arrangements. Each specific mill can be explained with the thirteen columns shown. It covers all different mill layouts from single stand blooming mills and old looping trains to modern continuous mills, 3-roll blocks and 2-high finishing blocks. In layout data for motors, gears and tension control are added.

Depending on inserted data the programs knows witch type of layout used. Layout includes also information of cooling conditions/rates in and between the stands and roll deflection characteristics of the stands. Roll deflection is used in the Rolling simulation program for calculating the empty gap. The empty gap is the gap for the unloaded stand.
